“The first thing that attracted me to dance ministry was the sense of freedom that I felt when I watched a group of dancers at my church. I wanted to experience this “freedom” for myself. It was through the dance that I learned to trust God on a level that I had not anticipated. It is through the dance that I learned to “let go” and allow God to use me - my whole body - freely.”

- Rev. Jocelyn Hairston

“Nothing has given me more joy, peace and purpose as the gift of dance. As the Artistic Director of Amazing Grace Dance Company I can truly say that my passion and need for dance excellence has gone to another level. I see that there is a need for dance ministry to step up and do what is necessary to dance in excellence. I believe being a vessel to equip dancers to become better has become my calling, my vision and my mission. Dance is healing, powerful, empowering and beautiful and it has truly been instrumental in my life. I thank God for the gift.”

“As God began to process and purify me and my gift, (which is on-going of course) I would feel such a sense of purpose and oneness with Him, I often said I felt that I was “my best self” when I ministered in dance, especially prophetically. Perhaps because the more I learned to die in the dance, the more He became ALIVE in me! God used my gift of Dance, and the Dance Ministry, as a way of learning how to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth, and my life has NEVER been the same! I praise and thank Him for His goodness… AND His gift!”

Joy Excerpt

How is your joy today? In order to determine if you have joy, you must be true to your feelings. Will you be honest with yourself and the Lord and confess that you have allowed people and life’s circumstances to steal your joy?

I had to be honest one day and confess to the Lord about my joy. I had to accept the fact that I did not have joy and the joy that I thought I had was temporal. My joy was like this: if things went well for me, I had joy. If things did not go so well for me, I would project everything but joy. My joy was like a rollercoaster: up and down, round and round. No, I do not have a mood disorder. I just did not know how to sustain and trust the God-given joy I was granted when Jesus died on the cross, way back on Calvary. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” that meant everything that we need was available to us instantly. The joy we need was instantly available. The peace we need was instantly available. The healing and deliverance that we need was instantly available. IT IS FINISHED! NO MORE SORROW. NO MORE SADNESS. That is what Jesus was saying.

Footprint journal entry #16: Denounce everything that is hindering your joy (i.e. Sickness, lack of finances, relationships, family, employment, bad decisions, regret, failures in life, low self-esteem, etc.) and cry out and say, “IT IS FINISHED BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS!”
